SPOTLIGHT ON GRADE FOUR Fourth Grade is a adjustment year for children in that the shift of the curriculum changes from "learning to read" to "reading to learn". The students spend more time on content areas such as science and social studies than was spent during the primary grades. Fourth graders have the opportunity for the first time to participate in band, choir and student council. The fourth graders also have the opportunity to switch classes for social studies and science. The emphasis in Grade Four in Social Studies is on Ohio history. A new tradition for fourth grade has become the study of owl pellets with Metro Parks. This activity is enjoyed by the students.
