Hello, my name is Scott Hudson and I am the science teacher at All Saints of St. John Vianney. I started teaching in 1997 right after graduating from Ohio University. I taught middle school level classes before teaching at the high school level. I have been here at All Saints since 2004. I have taught all of the sciences in either a middle school atmosphere or a high school one. I most enjoy teaching the principles of Biology and Earth Science. I am a challenging teacher who is enthusiastic about the subject of science. I try to introduce my students to the different aspects of the sciences.
At school, I am in charge of the school’s pond located in the “secret garden”. In 2008, some of the 7th and 8th grade students helped me revitalize the look of the pond and bring some new life to the ecosystem. The pond ecosystem has started to team with life including the Koi, frogs, dragonflies, and beneficial microorganisms. In 2008-2009, I took a team from the 6th grade to John Carroll’s Science Olympiad. In 2009-2010, I took a team from both 5th and 6th grade to John Carroll’s Science Olympiad.
In 2008-2009, I initiated an “All Saints Family Fun Night” where the 8th grade students demonstrate what they are learning in science class about polymers by leading experiments with the 4th and 5th grade students and their family members. In 2009-2010, We had a family science night about Electricity for the 3rd and 4th graders and their family members.
I have a family with 2 kids and a loving and supportive spouse. Living in Willoughby allows me to see the school families and enjoy their company also. In my free time, I spend time with my wife and kids doing outdoor adventures and enjoying what life brings to us. I also take time out of my year to make furniture for our home, such things as armoires, beds, tables, and desks. I am an avid exerciser who goes to the gym 6 days a week. I have accomplished such feats as running in triathlons, biathlons, and a local Iron man competition.
